How Often Should I Get my Teeth Cleaned?

If you are young and healthy its recommended that you visit your dentist twice a year to get a routine examination and cleaning.
You should have your teeth checked and cleaned more often if you have been previously diagnosed with any chronic conditions such as diabetes or heart disease. If you are a smoker, drink a lot of red wine, or have a diet that has food/drinks with a lot of dye we recommend seeing your dentist more frequently to avoid permanent stains and gum disease.

 

Why do my gums bleed after a teeth cleaning?

If you have not had a teeth cleaning in a while, chances are there is a lot of bacteria that has built up in your mouth causing your gums to be irritated and sensitive. This can unfortunately cause the gums to bleed at times until your oral hygiene has been properly restored.
